Conner Washington was the star for Leicester Riders as they crushed Durham Wildcats 101-67 on Sunday.
The former MK College student scored 22 points in the victory as the Riders kept up the pressure on league leaders Newcastle Eagles.
Washington is widely regarded as one of Britain’s hottest talents having trained with the Great Britain side for the first time last summer.
Conner grew up in Bedford and was spotted playing street basketball. He joined Milton Keynes Lions before going to America to play in the NCAA Div 2 in Missouri.
The points on Sunday were his season-high as the Riders ran out winners on the road.
“It was a great defensive performance from us,” explained Washington.
“Especially after playing the night before but that’s what is so great about our team.
“Every single player is ready and can step up whenever they are called upon.
“It was very enjoyable game for me to play in, scoring a season high of 22.
“The most enjoyable part for me is when we play full out team defence, everything else just flows such much more, everyone gets a touch of the ball and we just zip the ball around picking defences apart.”
