Singer songwriter Mark Morriss and tribute act Little Chix will both play socially distanced gigs at Unit Nine in the coming weeks.

Morriss, who is best known as frontman for The Bluetones, will headline the venue in Wolverton, Milton Keynes, on consecutive nights in December, while Little Chix have today announced a second performance on the same day as their previously announced gig in November.

Both are the latest in a series of recent announcements by the venue, which revealed earlier this month it had not been successful in its application for funding as part of the Government’s Cultural Recovery Fund.

Morriss has released several solo albums alongside his work with The Bluetones.

His latest solo LP Look Up was re-released last year and it’s a decade since A New Athens, the sixth album by The Bluetones.

In keeping with other venues around the country which have started inviting audiences back inside, Unit Nine has had to implement a drastic cut in its capacity to conform to indoor social distancing regulations. This has seen it drop from being able to hold 500 to 64 – sat at tables.

The venue also has to adhere to other regulations which include providing a table service for drinks with customers required to wear masks when not sat at their table.

The MP for Milton Keynes North, Ben Everitt, is helping Unit Nine and MK11 - which also missed out on a Cultural Recovery Fund grant - to try and find alternative sources of financial support.

Tickets for all gigs are on sale now and can only be purchased as tables of four, five and six – depending on availability.
