Martin Taylor

The Stables, October 25

The Grammy-nominated guitarist, composer and educator celebrates his 60th birthday, and 45 years as a touring artist by hitting the stage again. He’s widely considered to be the world’s foremost exponent of solo jazz and fingerstyle guitar, and his five decade long career has seen him deliver more than 100 recordings.

Big Evil Grin

MK Gallery, October 20

Mixing up concoctions of groove based post punk inspired by 80s bands Gang of Four, Talking Heads, XTC…with snippets of Afro Beat and Jazz thrown in for good measure, that’s BEG.

Joining them in the heart of the city this evening will be Ivory Yardsale and Black Martis.

Glenn Tilbrook

The Stables, October 26

This MK return is the second date of a 36 show slog around the UK for the Squeeze chap. Anyone who has seen him on stage can attest to the properness of his songs, as it were. He’ll arrive armed with a ready wit, raucous vibes and a shed-load of grin inducing great stuff. Next year he will celebrate his 40th anniversary in the biz.

Lake Komo

The Craufurd Arms, October 23

With their breezy pop perfection of the summer soundtrack Milwaukee single, the quartet ended up inking a deal with Columbia Records and their debut album is coming this side of Christmas. Naturally that newbie material will feature in this show by the laid-back indie electronica merchants

Dollar Shake

MK11 Kiln Farm, October 22

Your last chance to enjoy an evening in the company of trademark kitsch promotion Dollar Shake this side of Christmas happens on Saturday night.

Expect a mix of vintage RnB, RnR, Soul, Cuban and Electro Swing, and they’ve got added fire this time around too – a Burlesque performance from Honey Le Bon.

The Gerry Colvin Band

The College Arms Bar, Cranfield, October 21

Gerry’s songs are moving, comical and delivered with a unique style and energy. Gerry (formerly one half of John Peel raves Terry & Gerry) has worked in Nashville and collaborated with Alison Moyet during an extensive history. Recently, he’s been dabbling in jazz.

Jake Sims

Unit 9, Wolverton , October 22

It doesn’t seem so very long ago that Stereo Kicks were singing their latest single to hordes of screaming girls at BHS in Milton Keynes.

In actuality it was a little over 12 months ago now, and what a difference a year makes – the band,

and the store, are no more.

But SK member Jake Sims is still live and erm, kicking!

He’ll be back in Milton Keynes this weekend, appearing at Unit 9 in Wolverton.

The event mixes live performance with the chance for fans to get up close, meet the artist, get that selfie and snap up some merch.

The big billing also features Milton Keynes singer-songwriter Euan Emerton, with other artists including Benjamin BNG, David Bulley, Jason Allan, Liberty Grant and Sion Jones.

Jake says: “It’s gonna be a mad show. Really looking forward to it!”
