My Chemical Romance postpone Milton Keynes shows until 2021 due to Coronavirus

The band were due to play the venue on June 18, 20 and 21, but these have now been postponed until next year.

The rescheduled shows will take place on Thursday, June 17, Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20, 2021.

Tickets will remain valid for the days of the days of the week which they were originally purchased for and refunds will also be available.

In a statement posted on the band’s Twitter account, My Chemical Romance said: "We have made the difficult decision to postpone our UK and Ireland shows until 2021.

“We must put the health of our fans and families first.

“We believe you understand this decision, which we laboured over. We intend to come back and play – in fact, we can’t wait to play – and hope you will be there with us, hope there is much to celebrate.”

After disbanding in 2013, My Chemical Romance reformed last year for a comeback show in Los Angeles in October.

Comprising of singer Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Lero and bassist Mikey Way, My Chemical Romance broke through with their 2004 album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge with 2006 successor The Black Parade cementing their place as one of rock’s biggest bands.

Their last studio album before their split, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, was released in 2010.

The last time the band played in the UK was at the Reading and Leeds festivals in 2011.

Guitarist Lero was last in the region in 2014 when his solo band opened for Mallory Knox at the Roadmender.

The shows are the latest to fall victim of the Coronavirus, after Fairport Convention recently announced its annual Cropredy Convention – which takes place on the border of Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire was postponed until next year and the Greenbelt festival was also cancelled.

No statement has been made by Slipknot as to whether Knotfest, due to take place at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes on August 22, will go ahead.
