The Vision for the future

It’s not quite the same as watching Ian Brown’s swagger, granted, but if you check in with The Total Stone Roses at The Craufurd Arms this Friday evening you’ll get a technically accurate performance at a fraction of the cost.

This band of imitators are all ‘top drawer’ Leeds College of Music graduates – there won’t be bum notes and sour sounds here.

Instead they claim to bring ‘the same passion, vigour, arrogance and charisma that only the young have, the old want and that cannot be faked.’

And as for the set list?

You know the hits: She Bangs the Drums, Fools Gold, Waterfall, I Wanna Be Adored and Love Spreads will all get an outing.

Some of you who have been checking in on the live scene around the new city for a fair while might remember the rabble of indie-makers who have snagged the support slot for this show.

The Vision were scene regulars and participants in the last ever City Nights/Pitz Band Blitz competition where they made it to the Grand Final.

Post-Blitz, they continued at musical play for another year or so, before calling time and dismantling their gear in 2009.

Various musical projects and opportunities were borne, but in 2016, The Vision are back in play – a decade after their debut.

“We are all made up and determined to come back bigger and better than the first time,” vocalist Steve Wells told us.

And this revival isn’t only an excuse to cover old ground. Yep, they’ll play the old numbers, but there’s new material to take attentions too.

A new EP is sorted and they’ve other gigs booked up.
