Virtual dance evening coming to MK Gallery next month

A new dance event is being held in Milton Keynes containing wide-ranging rhythmic performances.

MÓTUS, a dance group from Milton Keynes have organised an upcoming showcase at the MK Gallery at 7pm on April 15, called 'Adjustments'.

The first show is called 'Resilient', and will be dance duet that is reflective of the Coronavirus, the collective strength of humanity and the loss felt in the creative community.

'Resilient' addresses companionship and trust as two people lean on each other for support and guidance. It will be performed by members of the Ascension Dance Company.

Thrive Dance company have a performance focusing on our relationship with nature currently, untitled. It explores plant bio-acoustics, looking at how plants send electrical signals through their roots.

Artistic director Sarah Poekert, has shown her work across the UK and the US, across numerous platforms and is currently artist in residence at Space Clarence Mews, London. The untitled piece is her brain child.

Oliver and Laura of Vanhulle Dance Theatre are looking at combining their artistic practice and movement language for the third showing. It will combine martial arts and gymnastics with the art of dance, its called, 'BOO SHIM' which translates to Empty Mind.

Using Oliver’s Martial Arts techniques (Tang Soo Do) together with Laura’s movement flow (influenced by Kathak, African dance, yoga, gymnastics) the duet are working on creating a specific choreographic language for audiences.

Beyond the live show there will be a discussion and breakdown of the performances, allowing the virtual crowd a peak behind the curtain.

The three choreographers will receive feedback on their work from a professional industry panel.
