ART-lovers with a penchant for scenic views will be well advised to treat themselves to a copy of Personal Impressions, by city-based artist Derek Daniells.
The beautifully presented collection is a little look at some of Derek’s own personal favourites lifted from a lifetime of working the canvas.
The book has been created primarily for the art world, but the enchanting content will appeal to all, and although not the primary content, Personal Impressions does include occasional local landscapes, like Derek’s hometown of Stony Stratford, and people – the late, great Matt Armour, who was responsible for establishing much of the town’s music scene is captured, ‘at work’ playing in The Vaults Bar.
As you turn over page upon page of gorgeously captured views, like Harry’s Bar in Venice, on the cover of this issue, or Paris’ art quarter Montmartre, left, you will be truly enchanted.
And if you have visited any of the places captured by Daniell’s craft, then you will be warmed by the vision and then feel the need to go book a return holiday!
But why choose to issue the book now?
“The opportunity arose and it was the right time in my career,” he reasons.
Derek, who has exhibited widely including for The Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, will be signing copies of his book at Odells Market in Stony Stratford next Saturday, December 11.
