Ever wondered what Hogwarts Retirement Home would be like? Or how the plot of Reservoir Dogs would have played if there was more than a tinge of grey to Mr White, Mr Blonde, Mr Pink and Nice Guy Eddie?
Well wonder no longer, because the residents of Shenley Wood Retirement Village have recreated some of the most famous images from cinema for their Christmas calender.
Anyone buying a calendar can get monthly depictions of classics such as Gone With The Wind, Star Wars, Psycho, Grease and Singing in the Rain.
Activities facilitator Lauren McMillan said she quickly knew they were creating “something special”.
She said: “It was great fun. I was taken aback by their willingness to go all out and their individual dedication to the project.
“Miss October Bridget Lewis, our Janet Leigh, walked onto set informing me she had been practicing at home.
“She then thrust her hair under running water and had completed her shoot within five minutes.”
She added: “For me, the high point was watching 90-year-old Barbara Sellers, our Holly Golightly, command the room like a film star as weepy-eyed staff and her son and daughter-in-law watched on. At that point, I knew this would be something special.
“I hope that the calendar in some way promotes the idea that, regardless of somebody’s age, there is always space for individuality, self expression and fun.”
Calendars can be bought for £14.99 from www.everybodysmile.biz/cgi-bin/public.cgi?form_status=OrderDirect&Id=218674&ss=1 with all the proceeds being used to support activities for residents living at the retirement village.
