A couple of weeks back we were well and truly wowed by a true guitar great when Nils Lofgren returned to play another sell-out date at The Stables.
While the musical menu of this evening’s date at the venue varies somewhat, the delivery is set to be just as pristine.
Moulettes – that’s them sitting pretty on the cover of this very GO! section – will be sizzling.
Hardly a new name on the scene, they remain a potent one.
The Brighton-based innovators are best summed up as a band of Bjork, Frank Zappa and Gentle Giant loving multi-instrumentalists that weave in and out of several genres with three part harmony vocals, amplified cello, distorted bassoon, auto-harp, guitar, drums, bass and synths into an incomparable alt.pop/rock/folk universe.
Here’s hoping they enthuse this weary writer with a live rendition of Lady.
An exquisite proposition, Moulettes are, and they’ll not be alone at this show – it’s a co-headliner with Nizlopi. Even if you’ve not thrown yourself into their fantastic fare, you’ll know Nizlopi for one track in particular – The JCB Song saw the indie aces with a hit on their hands.
The band became a million selling success who ended up on the stage at Wembley Arena.
Best of all, they didn’t compromise to get there!
This tour is Nizlopi’s last for a while, and joining them in a supporting fashion will be Bristolian folk storytellers Heg & The Wolf Chorus.
Make it quick and google their current single The White Witch.
But hurry along, you’ve a ticket to book for this evening’s show, too. Show time is 8pm.
Also at the Wavendon venue in the coming week:
Children’s show Tyrannosaurus Rex has daytime shows on Friday (1.30pm) and Saturday (10.30am and 1.30pm).
Nine Below Zero play tomorrow night on the main stage while indie-folkers Admiral Fallow take care of things on Stage 2.
Nearly Dan do Steely Dan on Saturday night, with Rant over on Stage 2.
Tickets to see Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends on Sunday evening are sold out, so too comedian Jo Brand’s return on Tuesday night.
If you want in to see Talon do the best Eagles impression since, erm, the Eagles, on Wednesday evening you’ll need to be quick too.
The box office has slim picking left. To book for the shows with availability call 01908 280800.
