The thespian ladies of Winslow are shedding their inhibitions - as well as their clothes - to stage The Calendar Girls.
The play, which charts the incredible story of a Yorkshire Women’s Institute who cheekily pose for a nude calendar to raise funds for charity, has just been licensed to allow performances by amateur groups. The licence only runs for one year so expect more plucky am-drams to feature the heart-tugging drama in their programme.
The Winslow Players are among the early companies to perform it and shows are taking place next Thursday to Saturday, Oct 4-6, at 8 pm, in Winslow Public Hall. Tickets are available in advance from Jennie Wren’s Tearooms, Market Square, Winslow and on the door at performances. Prices: £6 Thursday, all others £8.
