Milton Keynes author launches immersive fantasy audiobook designed to feel like a movie

"The goal was to create something that feels bigger than a standard audiobook”

Auran Lyonheart, a Milton Keynes-based author, has released an immersive audiobook edition of his fantasy novel, The Garden of Eden.

Unlike traditional audiobooks, this production combines narration with ambient soundscapes, environmental effects, and cinematic audio design to create a more engaging listening experience. The aim is to place listeners directly inside the story, whether they are witnessing ancient mysteries unfold, travelling across oceans, or standing amid battles between ordinary people and godlike beings.

The Garden of Eden is the first instalment in a planned fantasy saga that follows the discovery of legendary fruit capable of transforming destined individuals into powerful Celestial beings. As governments, secret organisations, and ancient immortals clash over the fruit's power, the story explores themes of destiny, sacrifice, friendship, and what it truly means to become a god.

Lyonheart developed the novel while balancing full-time work and family commitments, often writing before dawn each morning. The book has since grown into a larger series, with additional novels already in development and plans for future audiobook productions.

A key part of the audiobook's unique atmosphere comes from producer Dan James Short, who created the immersive soundscapes, ambient environments, and audio effects that bring the world of The Garden of Eden to life. Working alongside Lyonheart, Short helped transform the production from a traditional audiobook into a cinematic listening experience designed to immerse listeners in every scene.

"The goal was to create something that feels bigger than a standard audiobook," said Lyonheart. "I wanted listeners to feel as though they were stepping directly into the world and experiencing the story alongside the characters."

Producer Dan James Short added: "We wanted listeners to feel present in the story. The sound design was created to enhance the emotion, atmosphere, and scale of the world without distracting from the narrative itself."

The audiobook is now available through Audible.
