Should our new 'super tip' waste site be built so close to homes in Milton Keynes? Here's your chance to have your say
Residents have been invited to air their views on plans to build a huge new waste tip close to city homes.
MK City Council proposes to site the new Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) at Snelshall,on land at Anderson Gate between homes on Steinbeck Crescent and Snelshall Street.
It will be bigger than the city’s current three sites at Newport Pagnell, New Bradwell and Bleak Hall combined.
The council says the facility will be safer, more accessible and improve local recycling rates. But many residents on Snellshall and Tattenhoe Park are firmly against the plan, insisting it will cause nasty smells, increased traffic and disruptive noise as well as prompt property prices to fall.

Now all residents are being encouraged to attend two upcoming public information events, organised by the council, to hear about the proposals in detail.
They can view the planned layout, ask questions of council officers and planning consultants and share their views on the scheme.
The sessions will take place at Priory Park Pavilion, Priestley Drive, Tattenhoe Park, MK4 4NW on Thursday July 9 between 5pm to 9pm and Friday July 10 between 10am to 5pm
City Conservatives are also objection to the siting of the new tip and their group leader Shazna Muzammil and ward councillors Manish Verma and Krish Pillai are encouraging as many residents as possible to attend.
Cllr Muzammil said: “This is one of the biggest proposals affecting our area, and it’s important that residents take the opportunity to understand the plans, ask questions and make their views known.
“The more residents whoengage, the better informed the Council will be about the issues that matter most to our community.
“Residents have raised concerns with me about traffic, environmental impact, noise, access, safety and how the facility will operate. These events are an opportunity to put those questions directly to the council officers.”
Cllr Manish Verma said: “Decisions of this scale shouldn’t be made without residents having a proper say. I’d urge anyone with questions or concerns to come along, hear directly from the officer team, and make sure their voice is on record.”
