Busy Milton Keynes road to close for six weeks for sewer repairs
A section of Newport Road in New Bradwell is set to close for more than five weeks for sewer repairs, with drivers facing a diversion through Milton Keynes.
Milton Keynes City Council has announced the temporary closure from November 9 to December 18 while Anglian Water carries out the work.

The affected stretch runs from Stonebridge Roundabout to the nearest mini-roundabout. The alternative route will take drivers via Grafton Street, Monks Way and Saxon Street, in both directions.
The closure is one of several road restrictions announced by the council, with further disruption planned across Milton Keynes and surrounding areas in November and December.
Newport Road in Moulsoe will also close from November 9 to December 18 while MV Kelly carries out carriageway works linked to development.
The affected section runs westwards for 375 metres from the junction with High Brink. The council’s notice lists the diversion via High Brink and the A509, followed by Grafton Street, Monks Way and Saxon Street.
Drivers on the A509 Newport Pagnell Bypass are also being warned of overnight closures. National Grid electricity reinforcement works will close the eastbound carriageway between London Road and Renny Park Road from November 2 to 16, nightly between 8pm and 6.30am.
The diversion will run via London Road, Portway, Childs Way, Tongwell Street, Standing Way, the A421, A6, B560 and A422.
Elsewhere, Openreach ducting works will close Naseby Court in Bradville, between numbers 11 and 15, from November 9 to 13. No alternative route is specified.
Bradbourne Drive in Tilbrook will have waiting and loading restrictions between numbers 13 and 15 on its westbound carriageway from November 16 to December 18 while SGN replaces a gas pressure governor on the verge.
The council has also confirmed several previously announced restrictions.
Passenham Road in Passenham is due to close on October 30 for Openreach telecommunications work, with a diversion via Calverton Road, Horsefair Green, London Road, Queen Eleanor Street and the A422 Stratford Road.
Anglian Water maintenance will bring daytime closures to Blackmoor Gate in Furzton on November 23, from 8am to 4pm, and Montagu Drive in Eaglestone on November 30, from 8am to 5pm. Diversions will be signed via nearby roads.
The council said the closures and restrictions will apply when indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
