Oakgrove School, in Middleton, sent out an email today (Monday, September 28) confirming the news.

The email, signed by headteacher Ian Tett, said: "We have been advised that due to the student already being in isolation in the days prior to them testing positive, there is not a requirement for anyone else at Oakgrove School to isolate as they have not had recent, prolonged contact.

"Thanks to this family’s actions and them isolating as soon as a member of the household showed symptoms, we have been able to avoid sending any students home and closing parts of the school.

"This case is a perfect example of why it is so important to follow the government’s guidance on isolation and getting tested as appropriate.

The school said it is working with Public Health England and will continue to keep parents, students and staff updated.
