Police issue Community Protection Warning after reports of anti-social behaviour across Milton Keynes

A man in his 40s has been issued with a warning after police received multiple reports of anti-social behaviour across the city.

Police say a man from Bedford was served with a Community Protection Warning (CPW) on Wednesday, November 4, after they received multiple reports from the public about a man acting in an antisocial manner.

A CPW is designed to address behaviour that is having a detrimental effect on the community and serves as a formal warning that further incidents may result in additional enforcement action.

A spokesperson from Thames Valley Police said: “Anti-social behaviour (ASB) can have a significant impact on people's quality of life and sense of safety. Thames Valley Police takes all reports of ASB seriously and will continue to work with our partners to identify those responsible and take appropriate action.”

Under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, anti-social behaviour is defined as "conduct that has caused, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not of the same household".

There are three main categories of anti-social behaviour:

  • Personal ASB - behaviour targeted towards a specific person or group, causing harassment, alarm or distress.
  • Nuisance ASB - behaviour that causes annoyance, suffering or disruption to a wider community.
  • Environmental ASB - behaviour that negatively affects public spaces, buildings or the wider environment.

The Thames Valley Police spokesperson added: “If you are experiencing anti-social behaviour, please continue to report it to both the police and Milton Keynes Council. Your information helps us identify issues, take action, and keep our communities safe.”

You can report anti-social behaviour on the Thames Valley Police Website or by calling 101. In an emergency, always call 999.
