The fire started in the engine compartment of the vehicle and was contained by firefighters who used two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel.

An eyewitness posted on social media that children were evacuated from the vehicle, and that smoke was coming from the back of the bus, as well as praising the quick reaction of emergency services.

Fire crews stayed on site afterwards to maintain a road closure and assist in recovering the bus.

Bucks Fire and Rescue service was approached for comment, but said they had no further details to share.
