Community groups across Bucks invited to bid for money for initiatives supporting policing priorities
Community groups across Buckinghamshire are being invited to bid for money for initiatives that support policing priorities.
Applications are now open for the second round of the Community Fund, with £200,000 up for grabs.
The fund is jointly managed by Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber, and the force’s Chief Constable Jason Hogg, with the money made available from the proceeds of the sale of items seized from criminals, that cannot be returned to their rightful owners.
Organisations across the Thames Valley, which covers Buckinghamshire as well as Oxfordshire and Berkshire, can apply for a grant of up to £10,000 for a project that supports one of the priorities of the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan.

These are protecting communities, which covers crime prevention and road safety, protecting people, which covers abuse and exploitation as well as the night-time economy, and protecting property, which covers cybercrime, as well as fraud and retail crime.
Commissioner Barber said: “We have a total of £200,000 of grant funding available to community and voluntary groups, and I would urge groups who are supporting my Police and Crime Plan in reducing crime across our communities to apply.
“We have an active community across the Thames Valley, who play a significant role in tackling local issues around crime prevention and supporting vulnerable groups.
“Over the past 12 months, we have provided over £400,000 of funding through the Community Fund to 96 community groups who are working hard to support Thames Valley Police in protecting communities, supporting victims and reducing crime.
“We look forward to receiving applications which support a range of areas within my Police and Crime Plan, including those focused on tackling anti-social behaviour, providing support for domestic abuse victims and reducing vehicle crime.”
Earlier this year organisations received funding for projects including support for young people to build self-esteem and independence, music-led early intervention to prevent violence, exploitation and offending, and the purchase of CCTV to reduce anti-social behaviour in the community.
The closing date for this round of applications is midday on Monday September 28, with successful applicants invited to attend a presentation event on Thursday November 26 in Milton Keynes.
