Giant hare sculpture inspired by poet features in new children’s play area in Olney
A giant hare sculpture is the centrepiece of a new children’s play area in Olney.
The sculpture is part of the first phase of a £375,000 project on a new play area for younger children at Johnson’s Field.

The sculpture is inspired by poet William Cowper, who famously kept three pet hares named Puss, Tiney and Bess, when he lived in Olney.
The play area also includes a climbing frame, slide and rotating seesaw.
A second phase designed for older children is due to be completed in spring 2027.
Funding for the project has come from Section 106 contributions, payments made by housing developers to help facilities and improvements in communities.
Cabinet member for the environment at Milton Keynes City Council Kerrie Bradburn said: “We're delighted to see the first phase of the Johnson's Field play project complete and already being enjoyed by families.
“Play areas are vital community spaces that help children stay active, develop confidence, and spend time outdoors with friends and family.
“This investment demonstrates our commitment to creating high-quality facilities for local communities, and we're looking forward to delivering the second phase to provide even more opportunities for older children."
