Four popular Milton Keynes sports and community venues set for £202,000 renovation boost

The investments will be used to improve sports and leisure facilities to help keep communities active and connected.

Milton Keynes City Council has approved funding for renovation projects at four popular venues across the city, using money secured through developer contributions. The money will be used to expand and improve facilities for fitness classes, local community groups, children’s swimming, sports classes and more.

Upgrades at Sports Central in Central Milton Keynes will include new LED floodlights, refreshed tennis and netball court markings, and improvements to indoor meeting, café and seating areas. The project aims to enhance the experience for the thousands of people who use the facility each year while reducing energy costs.

Middleton Pool in Newport Pagnell will gain an additional exercise and fitness space, helping meet growing demand for health and wellbeing activities and giving more residents opportunities to get active.

Funding for Monkston Community Centre will be used to replace tables and chairs, supporting the groups, classes and events that bring local people together.

Wolverton Swimming and Fitness Centre will receive support for its solar energy system, helping reduce running costs and allowing more resources to be focused on services for residents.

The funding has been secured through Section 106 agreements with developers. These agreements help ensure that as new homes are built, investment is also made in the facilities and infrastructure communities need, allowing both existing and future residents to benefit from growth.

Cabinet Member for Regulatory Services, Cllr Sam Crooks said: "These are the places where people make friends, learn new skills, keep active and spend time together.

“This investment will help ensure they continue to thrive, benefiting the communities that already use them and the new neighbourhoods being created across our city

“The funding comes from agreements with developers, ensuring that growth helps support the facilities and services local people rely on. It's a great example of development helping to fund improvements that make a real difference to communities across Milton Keynes."
