How Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes MPs voted on assisted dying as bill is rejected
Six of Buckinghamshire’s eight MPs backed an attempt to legalise assisted dying in England and Wales, but the proposed law was defeated in the Commons.
The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill was rejected after 286 Members of Parliament voted against it and 270 supported it, a majority of 16.

Labour MPs Laura Kyrke-Smith in Aylesbury, Chris Curtis in Milton Keynes North, Emily Darlington in Milton Keynes Central and Callum Anderson in Buckingham and Bletchley all voted in favour.
Labour’s Emma Reynolds, who represents Wycombe, and Chesham and Amersham’s Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Green also supported the bill.
However, the county’s two Conservative MPs opposed it, with Joy Morrissey, the MP for Beaconsfield, and Mid Buckinghamshire MP Greg Smith both voting against the proposed legislation.
The result means the attempt to legalise assisted dying was defeated.
The Buckinghamshire breakdown was:
- Callum Anderson, Buckingham and Bletchley –for
- Chris Curtis, Milton Keynes North –for
- Emily Darlington, Milton Keynes Central –for
- Laura Kyrke-Smith, Aylesbury –for
- Sarah Green, Chesham and Amersham –for
