Young people have helped to grow fruit and vegetables, including apples, pears, plums and pumpkins, as well as building raised beds and creating bird feeders and bird baths.

The allotments are being supported with money from the Government’s Crisis and Resilience Fund.

The city council’s cabinet member for children and young people Peter Cannon said following a visit to the site: “The allotment project is a great example of the support our youth team provides for young people across Milton Keynes.

“While participants are learning practical skills and building confidence through gardening, it is just one part of a much wider package of support that helps young people develop resilience and find ways into learning and jobs.”

Young people interested in finding out more about learning opportunities and employment support can email [email protected] or visit the city council’s website.
