Mosque in Milton Keynes gifts 200 food parcels to people in need during Ramadan

Caring mosque members who are fasting for Ramadan have spent their time collecting and packing food parcels to give to people in need.

The Zainabiya Islamic Centre, based in Granby, Milton Keynes, held a community food parcel packing day on Saturday (March 14) to give a giant boost to the local Milton Keynes Food Bank.

In the weeks leading up to the event, community members helped by purchasing and donating essential food items.

On the day, volunteers ranging from young people to elders came together to pack more than 200 food parcels.

“Everyone worked side by side, reflecting the spirit of charity, unity and compassion that Ramadan encourages,” said spokesperson Saima Abbas.

Saima added: “Ramadan is a time of compassion and bringing people together, so it was inspiring to see members of our community of all ages volunteering their time to support families in need across MK.

"We hope it makes a small difference to those who rely on this support.”
