New live entertainment venue takes on former Bistro Live site in Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes is getting a new home for live entertainment this month, with comedy, live music, DJ sets and a 4am licence.

House of Montra takes over the former Bistro Live site on Midsummer Boulevard, which closed in February 2026 after almost 25 years as one of the city's best known spots for Christmas parties, birthdays, hen nights and work socials.

Looking to fill that gap, House of Montra is built around a weekly schedule of comedy on Thursdays, live bands on Fridays, sport through Saturday daytime and club nights late on Saturday.

There is also capacity for one off shows, bigger touring acts and major sporting events.

A 4am licence allows House of Montra to run far later than most venues in the city, opening up late night sport from the United States and extended club nights.

Launch events

On Saturday, October 24, the venue will host a live sports day, screening major fixtures across football, boxing, UFC, rugby and Formula 1, with dedicated events built around the biggest games.

As darkness falls, the venue will transform into Montra Saturdays by night, with resident DJs playing house, garage, dance and club classics through to 4am.

On Thursday, October 29, a launch night will see the venue being officially opened to the public. Expect live bands, comedy and DJ sets.

An open call for local talent

House of Montra is actively looking for comedians, bands and DJs to fill its programme, and is inviting performers at every level to get in touch.

Aaron Mills, owner of House of Montra said: "We want Montra to be the room where people get their shot. Whether you have played a hundred gigs or you have never stood on a stage before, if you have got something to bring we want to hear from you.

“The comedy night in particular is built to give new acts a proper audience alongside people who have been doing it for years."

"Milton Keynes lost something when Bistro Live went. People had 25 years of big nights there.

“We are not trying to replace it, but we do think the city deserves somewhere to go again, and somewhere that gives you a different reason to come out four nights a week."
