Parish council gives highest honour to retiring clerk in Milton Keynes
The highest honour a parish council can give was handed to a retiring clerk in Milton Keynes, after almost two decades of service.
At a special Wavendon Parish Council meeting, on Tuesday, May 21, the Freedom of the Parish was bestowed to its retiring Clerk Alan Kemp. The honour comes after 18 years of dedication and service.
Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr David Hopkins said: "Beyond the administration and the paperwork, Alan has been a constant, welcoming face for our residents. He genuinely cares about Wavendon and has helped shape this community for the better, keeping us all focused on the councils One Wavendon mantra.”
Alan began his role as clerk in 2007, when Wavendon Parish had just 700 residents. The parish now serves over 7,500 with the development of Glebe Farm and Eagle Farm South within its boundaries.

The meeting was attended by past and present parish councillors, representatives of Milton Keynes City Council and other partner organisations.
Cllr Hopkins added that, "Alan's dedication hasn't just been a job - it has been a true service to this community’.
