Plea to support Milton Keynes cycle ride to raise funds for Beau’s special needs bike trailer
A 10-year-old schoolgirl is taking on a marathon cycle ride to raise funds for a special needs bike trailer for her brother.
Margaux Jamieson of Wolverton, and her friends and family are planning a marathon length bike ride in Milton Keynes for the fundraiser.
They hope to raise enough money to buy Margaux’s brother, Beau, a special bike trailer that he can use to join her on bike rides as he gets older.
Margaux’s mother Jennifer Davies said: “Due to Beau's medical condition, he is unable to ride a bike, and most trailers are not suitable for older children or adults, so we would love to raise some money towards a special trailer to ensure we can all continue to cycle together.

“The plan is for us all to cycle the length of a marathon around Milton Keynes. The bike ride will take place later, probably at the beginning of September when the heatwave ends and it’s cooler.
"We’re thinking of cycling on the redways around Campbell Park, possibly in two stages, to complete the marathon 26 miles distance.”
Jennifer explained Margaux loves her bike, cycling for fun and to Bushfield Primary School where she’s a pupil.
She also said that Margaux wanted her brother Beau, who is eight, to be able to join her on bike rides.
She added: “The difficulty is we currently have to hire a special trailer for Beau. We were talking about how we would manage this in the future and came up with the idea of the marathon cycle ride to raise funds. Margaux was really keen to take part with her friends, and is really looking forward to it.”
Beau was born prematurely with a congenital limb difference, a condition where a child is born with one or more limbs that are either underdeveloped, missing, or malformed.
Genetic tests when he was six years ago then resulted in a diagnosis of Cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome, which is a rare genetic disorder affecting the heart, facial features, skin, hair, and development.
"The condition can be life limiting, added Jennifer. “It does affect Beau day to day, but thankfully Beau is able to walk and talk. He attends a special needs school and is a happy boy. But getting around can be challenging as it affects his motor skills and co-ordination.
"So to actually raise enough money to buy his own special needs trailer would be amazing and allow Beau to get out and join his sister and friends on bike rides.”
Jennifer’s goFundme fundraising page states: “If you can help towards us reaching our goal we would be so grateful, no matter the amount.
“If we are able to raise more than the amount required for the bike, then any extra funds will be saved for Beau and used to help with his accessibility needs as and when he needs them.”
