Princess Anne visits Milton Keynes to launch a charity's new branch

Princess Anne made a trip to Milton Keynes to mark the opening of a mental health charity’s new premises.

Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne, paid a visit to Citizens Advice Milton Keynes, on Thursday May 7, to formally open their new premises at Clarendon Drive, Wymbush.

The Princess toured a range of services delivered by the charity, including advice to unpaid carers, health and wellbeing services, employability and skills programmes, community outreach, volunteering and a local advice helpline.

Her Royal Highness also met representatives involved in the Milton Keynes Carers Support Network, which is funded by Milton Keynes City Council and led by Citizens Advice in partnership with a number of local community organisations.

She took the opportunity to speak with representatives from the University of Buckingham Law School about their partnership with the charity, before meeting volunteers at the network. She then formally unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of the new building.

The princess has long-term ties with the charity, having been Patron of Citizens Advice since 1990.

Ben Thomas, Director of Citizens Advice Milton Keynes, said: “It was a real honour to welcome Her Royal Highness to Citizens Advice Milton Keynes and to have the opportunity to showcase the work being carried out every day, by our staff, volunteers and partners across the city.

“Our move to Wymbush was never simply about relocating to a larger building. It’s part of a much wider strategy about how our organisation continues to evolve in response to a rapidly growing city and increasingly connected and complex demand.”

“We were extremely proud to be able to highlight both the work taking place across our services and the importance of partnership working in supporting people throughout Milton Keynes – especially unpaid carers.”

Citizens Advice Milton Keynes moved into its new building in Wymbush in 2025, as part of a wider programme of growth. The move aims to expand collaboration, improve accessibility and bring together a growing family of connected services and partnerships under one roof.

The charity is now in its 55th year of giving advice and supported more than 8,000 people across Milton Keynes last year alone.
