Restaurant chain closes one of its Milton Keynes sites after being unable to agree commercial lease terms

TGI Fridays has confirmed the closure of its Milton Keynes Stadium restaurant, after saying it was ‘unable to agree commercial lease terms.’

News of the closure of the restaurant, located on Stadium Way West, first came when a notice was posted on the door of the premises which read: “We regret to inform you that TGI Fridays has made the difficult decision to close our doors at Milton Keynes Stadium effective Monday July 6, 2026.

“We are extremely grateful to our loyal guests and our team members at our Milton Keynes Stadium restaurant.”

In a statement provided to the Citizen TGI Fridays said: “Following a thorough review, we took the decision to close our Milton Keynes Stadium restaurant after being unable to agree commercial lease terms that supported the long-term operation of that site.

“While these decisions are never easy, some commercial arrangements no longer support our long-term strategy.

“These changes represent the most responsible course of action, enabling us to protect as many jobs as possible while continuing to invest in our future.

“Our priority throughout this process has been to support our team members. We are working closely with those affected and, wherever possible, are exploring opportunities for them within other TGI Fridays restaurants.”

The American restaurant chain said it continued to have ‘a strong presence in Milton Keynes’ with its statement adding: “Our Milton Keynes Theatre restaurant remains fully open, is not scheduled to close, and continues to welcome guests and take bookings as normal.

“Milton Keynes remains an important city for TGI Fridays. Alongside our Theatre restaurant, we have recently opened our UK Support Centre in the city, reinforcing our continued investment and long-term commitment to the local community.

“TGI Fridays has a long and proud history in the UK, and we remain committed to investing in the brand, enhancing the guest experience, and continuing to deliver the bold flavours, genuine hospitality and energetic atmosphere that our guests know and love.”
