The coach operator says passengers can travel for nothing where there is a comparable coach route available.

Flybe customers who were booked to travel to and from a UK airport via National Express can also have their coach tickets amended for free.

Chris Hardy, managing director at National Express, said: “It’s an incredibly stressful time for travellers who have been disappointed by this sad news so we want to do what we can to help get them to where they want to go.”

For any Flybe customers coming back from holiday whose return travel times, dates or destinations have changed, National Express will amend their booking to another service free of charge.

Customers are advised to speak to a member of staff at their departure point or contact Customer Service Centre on 03717 81 81 81.

Meanwhile Avanti West Coast and First Group is offering free travel for Flybe passengers who are travelling today (Thursday) only. All passengers have to do is show a valid Flybe ticket to railway staff, they say.

Flybe collapsed into into administration in the early hours of this morning (Thursday) after struggling to raise funds. They blame part of the problem on amid a steep fall in bookings due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Thousands of customers have been left stranded after all flights were grounded and the business ceased trading with immediate effect of the announcement.
