Former MK Dons boss Robinson the front-runner to take over at Wycombe
The manager has been out of work since he was sacked by Salford City in the summer
Karl Robinson has been installed as the early favourite to take over as manager of Wycombe Wanderers.
The ex-MK Dons boss has been out of work since he was sacked by Salford City, having finished fourth in League Two last season. The Ammies were beaten in the play-off final at Wembley by Notts County, with Robinson given his marching orders a few weeks later.
The 45-year-old’s six-and-a-half year stint in charge at Stadium MK from 2010-2016 remains the longest of any manager in the club’s history. He guided the side to the Championship in 2015 before his departure a little over a year later following relegation back to League One.
Since leaving MK1, he has had runs at Charlton Athletic and Oxford United before taking up the role at Salford, where he spent more than two years in charge.
Wycombe parted company with Michael Duff on Tuesday morning following the Chairboys’ poor start to the season. They sit 23rd in League One, without a win, and squandered a 2-0 half-time lead against Dons on Saturday, even trailing 3-2 after goals from Aaron Collins, Callum Paterson and Curtis Nelson turned the game on its head less than quarter of an hour into the second-half.
Duff was given his marching orders alongside assistant Alex Morris, with the south Bucks club set to announce an interim boss.
In the meantime, Robinson, according to Compare.Bet, has been installed as the early favourite to take over at Adams Park.
The bookies have Robinson at 5/2 to replace Duff, while Wycombe legend and former boss Matt Bloomfield is at 4/1 to return to Adams Park having been out of work since his departure from Oxford United at the end of last season.
Other contenders include Gary Rowett (10/1), Kevin Nolan (12/1) and Michael Appleton (16/1).
