Keeper coach Weal joins Leicester as Dons sign Warrington as replacement

The goalkeepers will be taking advice from a new face next season

There has been a switch in the goalkeeper coaching ranks at MK Dons, with the departure of Tom Weal and the appointment of Andy Warrington.

Weal spent two spells at Stadium MK, initially joining in 2024 but he followed Mike Williamson to Carlisle United before then moving to Sunderland in early 2025.

He came back to Milton Keynes that summer to join Paul Warne’s coaching team, though has penned a deal with Russell Martin’s Leicester City.

Dons though have moved swiftly to replace Weal in the goalkeeping union, appointing Andy Warrington in his place. A part of Warne’s coaching team at Rotherham United and Derby County, he has been promoted from League One three times as a coach, while also having a playing career which saw him turn out for the likes of York City, Doncaster Rovers, Grimsby Town and Rotherham.

Sporting Director Liam Sweeting said of Warrington’s appointment: “Andy has an excellent track record working alongside Paul and Richie, so there is already a strong understanding of the standards, demands and environment required to help drive success.

“He also brings significant experience as a goalkeeper coach across both League One and the Championship, and we’re confident his knowledge and expertise will be a real asset to our goalkeepers and the wider coaching team.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Andy to the club and look forward to what we can achieve together.”
