Lemonheigh-Evans wants to bring promotion experience to Northampton
The versatile former MK Dons man has signed a deal just up the M1
No stranger to League Two promotions, Connor Lemonheigh-Evans hopes he can bring his experience to Northampton Town after penning a deal at Sixfields.
Released at the end of his contract by MK Dons earlier this summer, the Welshman helped Paul Warne’s side to promotion last time out, having also been a part of Stockport County’s promotion winning campaign two years earlier.
The versatile player has linked up with Chris Hogg’s Cobblers keen to put behind them their miserable League One relegation, which saw them lose 19 of 27 games in 2026, including 12 defeats in a row.
Eager to bounce back to the third tier, Lemonheigh-Evans hopes he can bring some League Two know-how to the Northampton dressing room.
He said: “I have been lucky enough top be part of two promotions in the last few years and I know what's requited to build towards that.
“You need the quality and consistency but you also need the characters and a group that is together and that's really important.
“I think it's important to have players here who want to be here and that the players buy into things and if we are to achieve what we want to then that's crucial.”
Speaking about the move, he continued: “The club spoke to my agent, I had a sit down meeting with the Gaffer and he spoke to me about the club and what he thinks I can bring and from there it was an easy decision to know this is where I want to be.
“Connor is an attack-minded midfield player,” said manager Hogg. “He knows the level really well and has a lot of experience of being successful at this level, having won promotion from League Two twice in the last three seasons. He knows what it takes and that can be very important.
“He is a really good professional, very diligent in his work and the way he looks after himself and he will offer good physicality, strong running and the ability and versatility to play in a number of different positions, which is a good attribute to have.”
