Carlton Morris has returned to Norwich City to complete a move to Championship side Barnsley this month.

The 25-year-old striker played 34 games for Dons in 2020, scoring eight goals as he became an integral man on and off the pitch under Russell Martin.

While the manager admitted Morris' departure will leave a big hole in his squad, he said the performances in the two games since he has been sidelined - wins over Bristol Rovers and Swindon Town - show his side are more than capable of moving on without him.

He said: "Carlton has been sent back officially to Norwich now, and he goes with out best wishes and thanks for what he has done over the last year. We're disappointed but pleased for him that he has earned a move. It's up to us to get someone to replace him now.

"It's a loss for us, but the way the players have adapted in the last two games, the results and the goals we've scored have shown we can cope without him and we have to find ways of doing things without him."

Morris' imminent move to Oakwell will see him reunite with Callum Brittain who signed for the Tykes in October.
