Dean Lewington will line up for MK Dons for a 17th season after he signed a new contract with the club.

The only remaining member of the Wimbledon team which moved to Milton Keynes in 2003, Lewington has made more than 700 appearances for the club and has captained the side for a decade.

Like his previous contracts, it is understood Lewington's deal is for one season.

After making 39 appearances in the curtailed season as a regular for both Paul Tisdale and Russell Martin, Lewington's stay comes as little surprise, least of all to his manager.

"He's been here his whole career," said Martin a few weeks ago. "He buys into what we're doing, and he's really important as the captain.

"He really thrives in the way we train and play, and was excellent every week when we played."
