Jack Meijer, representing the University of Wisconsin, where he is in the second year of his studies, smashed his personal best for 5,000m by 70 seconds in a race in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Competing against USA star Matt Centrowitz, the 1500m Olympic Gold Medallist from Rio, Jack finished in 12th place, just 12 seconds behind him in 13:44.17. This knocks almost half a minute off the club record set by Marcin Fudalej in 2010.

This result puts Jack in seventh place on the UK 5000m rankings for 2020 and second in the M23 rankings.
