The Milton Keynes charity delivers free sporting, creative and mentoring opportunities to over 7,000 children and young people annually, many of whom face significant disadvantages, including poverty, social isolation and limited access to affordable activities.
The Foundation also supports vulnerable young people, including those living in care or foster placements, those affected by domestic abuse and those at risk of gang involvement or exploitation.
With the cost of living continuing to put pressure on local families, free activities like Hang Out Basketball provide an important opportunity for young people to stay active, develop friendships and spend their school holidays in a safe, supportive environment.
Peter Bakare, Director at 5 On It Foundation, said: "We know that thousands of young people across Milton Keynes simply cannot afford to join sports clubs or take part in paid activities. For some of the young people we work with, opportunities like this are incredibly important.
Our Hang Out sessions give young people somewhere they can come, feel welcome, make friends and enjoy themselves without money being a barrier. Basketball is a fantastic way to bring people together, and we love seeing the confidence and friendships that develop through our sessions.
We're incredibly grateful to Broughton and Milton Keynes Parish Council for making this tournament possible. Their support means we can continue providing free opportunities for young people who might otherwise miss out."
5 On It Foundation works across Milton Keynes, particularly in communities experiencing higher levels of deprivation, helping to remove financial and social barriers that prevent young people from accessing sport and other positive activities.
The charity relies on grants, donations and partnerships with local businesses and organisations to keep its programmes free.
