Oakgrove School, in Middleton, sent out a warning letter to parents yesterday (Tuesday, October 6) saying that a member of its staff has tested positive and that anyone who has been in close contact with the person needs to self-isolate for 14 days, in line with Public Health England's guidelines.
The letter, signed by headteacher Ian Tett, said the school identified who the member of staff came into contact with 48 hours prior to developing symptoms and subsequently isolated this affected group away from other students at the school.

As a precautionary measure, we are also asking two members of staff to self isolate," the letter reads.
According to the government, close contact is defined as any individual who was within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from two days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, two days prior to positive specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.
The school said all affected areas have been deep-cleaned and that it will continue to keep parents and students updated.
This recent confirmed case comes after the school reported at the end of September that a student tested positive for the virus. The school thanked the student and their family for acting with caution.
