The Environment Agency visited Caldecote Lake on Monday following reports of huge numbers of dead fish.

A spokesman for the Parks Trust, which runs the lake, said today: "The Environment Agency out tests which show the oxygen levels indicate the water is of an acceptable quality.

"They believe the fish mortality was due to minor pollutants entering the water as a result of the heavy rain we had over the weekend but they believe this only impacted a certain section of the lake - the outfall where the fish were likely taking shelter."

Dog walkers were advised not to let their pets into the water at the lake until the cause was known.
