Free support for Milton Keynes businesses looking to cut energy bills
The City Council is offering local businesses five new routes to cutting energy costs, reducing waste, lowering emissions and strengthening their environmental credentials.
Five projects have been backed by Milton Keynes City Council's Green Business Fund, which funds business-to-business initiatives where firms work together to find practical solutions to environmental challenges.
The projects will help firms save money, reduce their environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable Milton Keynes, benefiting the whole community.
The five green projects are:

- Milton Keynes Community Energy (MKCE) - helping schools, community groups and local employers cut electricity bills by installing solar panels with no upfront costs.
- Sustainable Business: Milton Keynes - providing free expert advice to help organisations understand their emissions, identify savings and create practical plans to reduce their environmental impact.
- Industrial Symbiosis Programme - connecting companies with new uses for unwanted materials, reducing waste sent to landfill and lowering disposal costs.
- MK Carbon Ready - offering free tools and training to help organisations measure emissions, meet customer requirements and identify opportunities to reduce costs and carbon.
- Milton Keynes Green Business Network Sustainability Programme - supporting organisations to improve their environmental performance, strengthen their credentials and work towards recognised industry standards.
Cabinet Member for Planning and Sustainability, Cllr Jenny Wilson-Marklew said: "We’re pleased to back these five projects and give local organisations practical support to reduce costs, lower emissions and as such become stronger and more resilient.
“The benefits won't just be felt by those taking part, as a cleaner and more sustainable city is something we all gain from."
