Based at Furtho Manor Farm, The Seamstress MK has delivered more than 50 sewing workshops since opening, welcoming people from across Milton Keynes and the surrounding area to learn new skills, build confidence and discover a new creative hobby.

Founded by Tara, the studio's story began more than 15 years ago when she studied Textiles at Milton Keynes College. After years spent developing her expertise in dressmaking, alterations and garment design, she turned her passion into a business dedicated to making sewing accessible to everyone.

Today, The Seamstress MK offers sewing workshops, alterations and bespoke garment services, while building a supportive community of beginners and experienced makers alike.

"Sewing has been part of my life for more than 15 years, but the most rewarding part of this journey has been sharing that passion with others," said Tara, founder of The Seamstress MK.

"Over the last year, we've welcomed more than 150 people through our doors and watched complete beginners create things they never thought possible. Seeing people's confidence grow and watching friendships form around the sewing table has been incredible."

She added:

"My goal has always been to create a welcoming space where anyone can learn something new, be creative and leave feeling proud of what they've achieved. Whether you've never touched a sewing machine before or you're looking to develop existing skills, there's a place for you at The Seamstress MK."

Looking ahead to its second year, The Seamstress MK plans to expand its workshop programme and encourage even more people to discover the benefits of sewing, creativity and making by hand.

To mark the milestone, the business will host a first anniversary celebration on Saturday 8 November, bringing together local supporters, creators and members of the community who have helped make the studio's first year such a success.
