Milton Keynes businesses named as finalists for British Kebab Awards
Multiple businesses across Milton Keynes have been named among the finalists for this year’s British Kebab Awards.
More than 280 businesses have been named as finalists for the 15th edition of the awards, which are being held in London next year.
The finalists have been recognised across 22 categories and have been whittled down from 6,000 nominations and a field of nearly 500 semi-finalists.
Five Milton Keynes companies have been nominated, with Mangal Plus, a Turkish kebab shop based at 43 Stratford Road in Wolverton, nominated in the Best Delivery category.
In the Best Takeaway in the south of England category, three Milton Keynes takeaways have been shortlisted.
These are Mniam Mniam Kebab based on Watling Street, Turkish Kitchen MK, based at Unit F on Blundells Road in Bradville, and Sunats Kebabs based at 169 Queensway in Bletchley.
Meanwhile, DeRoka Mediterranean Restaurant, an independent Turkish restaurant based at Holkham Walk in The Hub, has been nominated in the Fine Dining Restaurant category.
All finalists keep the points they have gathered so far, which came from public votes (two points each), MP and councillor endorsements (250 points each), Google ratings (50 points per star), TripAdvisor ratings (50 points per star) and food hygiene ratings (50 points per star).
Public votes and endorsements are open until midnight on January 31, with an independent judging panel meeting on the first three days in February to review the finalist database alongside their own research, including mystery shopping.
The judges will then cast their votes in each category, with every judge’s vote worth 100 points.
