See what a Milton Keynes hairdresser did when her apprentice mentioned she wanted to play rounders!

A passing comment from a young apprentice grew into a huge charity day out for dozens of customers at a city hair salon.

Cassie Bamford, who is the owner of Blades Barbers and Blades Dolls in New Bradwell, heard her apprentive Liv said she would like to play rounders one day.

Known for never doing things by halves, Cassie promptly vowed to organise a rounders match – ad invite all the salon’s clients and friends to take part.

And she pledged to turn it into a charity event by raising money for Willen Hospice on the day.

Apprentice Liv was made a captain and teams were put together..What started as a simple idea to get together and play rounders quickly grew into something much bigger, bringing together their long-standing customers, friends, families and local businesses.

The match was held over the weekend and proved a huge success.

“What made the weekend particularly special was how much more it became than just a Rounders match. Cassie has built a huge network through her business and is constantly introducing people to one another, helping businesses connect and encouraging people to support each other. That was really evident at the event, with an incredible mix of local people, businesses, friends and families all coming together,” said a spokesperson.

“The event was a fantastic example of what can happen when someone uses their community and connections for something bigger than themselves,” they added.

A GoFundMe page set up for ‘Blades Rounders’ has so far raised more than £1,200.
