It might have been a losing start to life at Dons for Manning on Saturday, going down 2-1 to Sunderland, but there were a lot of positives to take from the game itself.

Effectively taking a watching brief, Manning said he wasn’t going to make wholesale changes to the way the team was set out to play, but was able to tactically tinkering to change Dons’ influence on the game,

“The worst thing I could do was come in and make huge changes in the first game without a single session,” said Liam Manning.

“I wanted to make them feel good, create an environment they can go out and step up. The second half was about tactical tweaks and changes. We played with more speed, intensity, more purpose to the second half. It wasn't anything major which helped us do that.”

Turning the process into purpose for MK Dons

We heard a lot last season about ‘the process’ that was being undertaken at Stadium MK. Liam Manning has since taken charge though, and has started to put his spin on things. It is still early doors for the new head coach - he has only been in place since Friday - but he is already looking to give Dons more purpose than process.
