A fan-favourite at Stadium MK, Will Grigg just cannot catch a break at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland’s asking price has left him on the shelf all summer, with both Wigan and Dons tipped interested, but both have since bolstered their frontlines leaving Grigg looking another at painful stint with the Black Cats.

Robson is excited to take on his boyhood club

The Black Cats hold a special place in the heart of Ethan Robson, but he’s eager to put that to one side on Saturday afternoon as he pulls on a Dons shirt to take on his boyhood club.

Keeper Andrew Fisher is in line to make his first appearance of the season after suffering a foot injury in pre-season. Franco Ravizzoli and Laurie Walker have stood in for him in recent weeks, but neither have covered themselves in glory and Dons’ first choice keeper will be a welcome return.

Max Watters is likely to miss the visit of Sunderland though as he remains sidelined, while David Kasumu is out for several weeks with a hamstring injury, Dean Lewington confirmed last week.

There’s a new sheriff in town, and his name is Liam Manning. The 35-year-old took charge of MK Dons yesterday after leaving Belgian side Lommel on Wednesday evening. The new head coach will be in the dugout this afternoon for the first time as Dons take on Sunderland at Stadium MK.

This is an ambitious football club that believes in playing a certain way - a way that the fans are used to and demand and one that I believe in too. We also have a squad full of quality and exciting players, who I can’t wait to get to work with.
