"A terrific signing": Wrexham boss on letting Barnett join MK Dons
The Wrexham manager spoke highly of the 26-year-old on his move to Milton Keynes
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson believes Ryan Barnett will be a top signing for MK Dons after agreeing to let him leave on loan.
One of ten players to help the Red Dragons to secure back-to-back-to-back promotion from the National League through to the Championship, Barnett found himself out of the side last season following the loan signing of Manchester City wing-back Issa Kabore, limiting him to just 12 appearances.
Still highly thought of at the Racecourse Ground, Barnett was held in high regard by Parkinson, who signed him from Solihull Moors in February 2023, picking him 112 times during the next three-and-a-half years.
Speaking about the season-long loan move, Dons boss Paul Warne said he had spoken several times with his counterpart in Wales about Barnett and only heard good things from Parkinson.
And talking about the move on Wrexham’s website, Parkinson said: “I'm really pleased for Barney, it’s a good move for him to go to MK Dons.
“He's been a really good player for us and has played a significant role in all three of our promotions.
“His attitude while he's been out of the side has been terrific, and now the time is right for Barney to get back playing again, and I'm sure he's going to be a terrific signing.”
