Queen of the Palace Sherrock beats Littler to claim £501,000 prize

MK’s darts ace downed the world champion in a one-leg shoot-out on Netflix

City darts star Fallon Sherrock won more than half-a-million pounds by beating world number one Luke Littler over one leg in a Netflix special.

In a challenge broadcast worldwide, amateur players were challenged to play teenage Littler with a chance of winning £501,000.

Sherrock shot to darts fame in 2019 when she became the first female player to win a match at the World Championships, beating Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljović to reach the last 32, earning her the nickname the Queen of the Palace.

Since then, she has continued to tour, picking up 22 women’s tour titles and the Women’s World Matchplay in 2022.

Despite her status in the game, she was classified as an ‘amateur’ and therefore eligible for the event, even though it drew backlash from fans claiming she was overqualified for a spot in the contest.

Prior to Sherrock reaching the oche, Littler had beaten 14 amateur players, and got off to a flying start by throwing closest to the bull to get the game underway, hit a maximum 180 and took out a tops finish to win the prize money.

She said: “At the end of the day, I fit the criteria for this. I've never had a tour card, and I wouldn't class myself as a pro really, because all I do is just play darts for the enjoyment of it.

"I'm just so happy to overcome all the hate and win.

"It's insane, I can't put into words what it means, especially having (son) Rory here - it's his first time at anything and he has seen me win.

"It's a great moment and I will memorise this forever. Give me an opportunity and I will take it every time. I'm really proud of myself, I rise to the occasion."

World champion Littler praised Sherrock for her victory, adding: “Brilliant, that's what one person had to do - win the bull and go out in 15 [darts] and that's what she did, world class.”
