Foxes boss laments lack of final product in draw with MK Dons

The Leicester City boss spoke after his side’s 0-0 draw with MK Dons on Saturday

Russell Martin felt his side should have left his old stomping ground of Stadium MK with the points after drawing 0-0 with MK Dons.

The Leicester City head coach daw his side dominate possession against Paul Warne’s men but failed to score, having to settle for a goal-less draw at MK1.

It was a backs-to-the-wall performance from Dons, particularly in the second-half against the Foxes, with Martin admitting his side lacked the cutting edge in front of goal.

He said though: “If we play that game ten times, we win nine of them. That is such a dominant performance. We just have to keep on with the process and when the end product comes, we’ll have a lot of fun.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t win, we deserved to. It’s the best performance we’ve had. If we score, I think everyone goes away thinking it is an amazing performance. Some of the football, some of the chances we created, it was so dominant, it was attack versus defence for long periods in the second-half. We’re just missing that last bit, that final bit of quality.

“MK Dons will be up there come the end of the season, but we ran and fought. We kept a clean sheet, the energy was great, we just have to put the finishing touches on it.

“We were fast, aggressive, we played with purpose and connections. We’ll keep getting better. Hopefully people feel positive about this team and the direction we’re going.”
