Harris 'absolutely devastated' with just a point against MK Dons
The Cambridge United manager was disappointed at the full-time whistle
Cambridge United boss Neil Harris was disappointed his side left Milton Keynes with only one point after the 1-1 draw with MK Dons on Saturday.
Needing a Sullay Kaikai stunner to cancel out Callum Paterson’s first-half opener for a share of the spoils, Cambridge twice squandered good chances before the break to take the lead, while Paterson, Jon Mellish and Aaron Collins all had great opportunities for the hosts to put the game out of reach.
While their unbeaten run was stretched to ten games as a result of the tie at Stadium MK, U’s boss Harris said his side deserved to be leaving with all three points.
“I think we should have won the game, I really do,” he said. “And you’re going to get grumpy old Neil Harris now! It’s hugely positive about 10 games unbeaten after (playing against) two of the so-called biggest teams in the division in Chesterfield and MK Dons.
“But I’m absolutely devastated we’ve only got two points. We certainly should have won the game on Tuesday – I still can’t get my around how we haven’t won it.
“And then today, we were the better team for 75 minutes. The only way they looked like scoring was when we shot ourselves in the foot with poor decision making on the ball in our backline.
“And then we were just absolutely wasteful at the top end of the pitch until a moment of brilliance from SK.
“So many positives, buzzing with so much of it, but I’m not happy with a point today.”
