Hendry joins Motherwell for undisclosed fee

The centre-forward as completed his move away from MK Dons

Striker Callum Hendry has left MK Dons to join Motherwell for an undisclosed fee after a little over a year at Stadium MK.

The 27-year-old scored four goals in 32 appearances for the club since joining from Salford City last summer, a turnaround he recently told the Citizen was not good enough.

Hendry, son of Premier League winner Colin, started his career at Blackburn Rovers but got his first taste of first-team football in Scotland with St Johnstone, while also having spells at Brechin, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock before returning to England with Salford.

But he has not kicked a ball for MK Dons this season, having not been included in any match-day squads since his pre-season goal against Stevenage in the final friendly of the summer.

His move to Motherwell sees Hendry link up with a side unbeaten in six matches thus far, with two draws in the SPL and three wins and two more draws in the League Cup.

“It’s great to be back in Scotland,” Hendry told Motherwell’s website. “This move has been in the offing for a while, and I’ve been really keen to get signed so I can focus on playing football.

“I know some of the guys in the dressing room, and everyone seems like really nice people around the place.

“I can now get a good week of work under my belt before Saturday’s game.”

Wells boss Jens Berthel Askou said: “His energy, intelligence in finding space, and strong finishing qualities will bring real value and competition to our squad.

“Callum arrives with a wealth of experience from both the EFL and the Scottish Premiership. His positive character and professionalism make him an excellent fit for our culture.

“He joins us with great hunger and desire to make his mark, and we are excited to see him help drive the team forward. We look forward to getting him on the pitch and watching him contribute to our continued growth as a club.”
