No rush to find a sponsor for MK Dons' shirts
The shirts were launched without a sponsor
The hunt for a permanent front-of-shirt sponsor for MK Dons is still ongoing, but the club are in no rush to get a deal done.
Having plotted to sell the naming rights to Stadium MK in a package deal with a new partner, chief executive Neil Hart and his team were not short of offers over the summer, he said, but finding the right deal has remained elusive.
The club launched their kits without a sponsor on the front prior to the season kicking off in August, but swiftly worked alongside Milton Keynes Council to put the City of Culture bid logo on the shirts, an endeavour which will run until the end of September.
As it stands, the shirts will continue into October blank, with Hart saying: “We’re still working in the background, working to find a long-term partner.
“The front of shirt is an interesting one. We had a lot of offers over the summer but we didn’t feel it was the right brand or financial level.
“We want the right partner to come on board for the long term, and for them to take the stadium naming rights and the front of shirt combined. We want someone to buy into our ambition and where we want to take this club.”
On the City of Culture logos, he added: “We worked closely with Jane Carr, the leader of the council, and with the City of Culture bid, what a fantastic gesture it could be from the club to get behind the city and to stand side-by-side with the council.”
Hart said the club are in no rush to accept the first offer which comes their way in the hunt for a new title sponsor, especially given the recent naming rights sales of the stands inside the stadium.
He continued: “We’ve been talking to businesses locally, regionally, nationally and globally. The chairman has been involved in a lot of the work we’ve been doing. Trying to get as much sponsorship into the club as possible is obviously our main objective.
"The west stand has been sponsored by Daimler, and the other three stands have now been sold so we’ll see those branded up soon.”
