Sanders, Paterson and Gilbey celebrated at PFA Awards

The three were voted for by their fellow players

A trio of MK Dons players were named in the League Two Team of the Year at last night’s PFA Awards.

Front man Callum Paterson, captain Alex Gilbey and defender Jack Sanders were all included in the XI, as voted for by the players themselves.

Scot Paterson ended the season as the club’s top-scorer with 16 goals following his summer move from Sheffield Wednesday. He also chipped in with six assists. He was named as one of the strikers in the side, alongside Swindon’s Aaron Drinan, who was voted League Two Player of the Year.

Skipper Gilbey helped lead the side to automatic promotion last season. A key man in the centre of the park, Gilbey missed just two league games all season, providing 12 goals and six assists. He made up a three-man midfield alongside Mitch Pinnock (Bromley) and Sammy Braybrooke (Chesterfield).

Centre-back Sanders launched himself into being a fan-favourite at Stadium MK last season. Playing a significant part in keeping 13 clean sheets last term, Sanders also scored twice and provided two assists early on to add to his stand-out showings in the back line. He made up the PFA back four alongside Omar Sowunmi (Bromley), Kelland Watts (Cambridge United) and James Gibbons (Cambridge United).
